#224 MICKEY THE DOG Read Count : 113

I have a dog named Mickey. I got him from the pound.
He sat there looking sad while the other dogs jumped around.

Please, oh, please take me his sad, sad eyes did say.
Mickey was the only dog that could come home with me to stay.

Other dogs, tails a wagging, made the children laugh with glee,
But Mickey to me was speaking, and the only dog I could see

At home he was my buddy always sitting by my side,
Stretching out and snoozing so happily did he abide.

He loves it and rolls over for you to give him a belly rub,
Even stood quite still when he was given a bath in the tub.

He doesn’t rush for dinner and doesn’t want a treat to eat.
But when night time comes, he sits and begs so sweet,

Waiting for me to get his leash to take him for a walk,
He’ll jump and flip and bark. You can almost hear him talk.

A walk outside the yard is always his favorite treat.
For things to smell and take advantage of along the street.

And if he doesn’t get his walk and you put him in the yard,
He’ll jump the fence running away if not chained up by a guard.
