We’re all gathering out on the floor. A line-dancing lesson is what is in store. Many learners don’t want to stand up close For fear that their dancing is not to boast. As the music starts and everyone is in line, We’re all ready to have a really good time. Then steps are called and the dancers are led. We’re getting all twisted, as was our dread. The music is stopped and we start in again, Our leader is ready to help us amend. Concentrating, our faces are so stern. Where are the laughs for which we so yearn? Time after time and then we are starting to be In time with the music and with steps that seem free. Soon a smile appears, and we even yell Yahoo! Swinging in circles, as we all longed to do. Before we know it the lessons are done for the day, And as we all mingle with promises, we say That next lesson will be better we just know Because our teacher has given us the get up and go. © Copyright 1997 by Jean E.
