As into the hospital you go with a scare
The first person you meet is a nurse who will care
A nurse is so gentle; so kind and so sweet
Staying by your side, helping you get on your feet
To make you comfortable is what she likes to do
Most anything you need while in bed she'll get for you
She'll fluff up the pillows that are under your head
And tuck in the covers at the end on your bed
Dispensing  your medicine and listing for your call
You can hear her with efficiency coming down the hall
And when you are well and up and around and about
She will be there to wave good-by as they wheel you out
You may even get a call the next day when you are at home
To see how things are going she says on the phone
And if all is okay with you, she will be on her way
To helping a new patient get through the day
