I'm sitting here thinking about my old friend
The one I ran too, to release my pain
It was a thin silver blade
When I cut through my skin, I was relieved
The warm thick stream running down
It has a smell that relaxes me

My old friend, I ran to you alot
I hide you in a little cut in my mattress
Your still close to my heart
Even though now that I think about it..
You only brought me more pain and sorrow

Yes at first it was a relief
Now I look at the scars and I'm reminded of the past
The past I was trying to forget

Old friend you are still in my mattress
Waiting there, for me, to one day
Press you to my skin
Make the fresh thick, warm, red, blood trickle down
My life no longer needs you to relieve pain

The pain, that only brought more pain
The thin silver blade, so shinny and temping
You have been there through alot
I have not needed you for awhile
You call my name
I can't turn away
I hold you in my hand
Ready to hold you to my skin and press

Then the memories of pain and sorrow
Flash through my mind
You are an old friend
You will always be there if I need you
I don't think I will need you for a long time

The cold blade feels so good to my warm skin
The blood trickles down my arm
A since of relief feels me
As I start to cry, I think of what I've done

Your face appears
You look like your crying
You sit down next to me on the bed
You take the blade from my shaking hands
You hold me tight and tell me everything is fine

So old friend, you are always there when I need you
Along with your short barreled friend
If I ever need you I will be sure to choose wisely
I love you old friend
