#133 RACCOONS Read Count : 101

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
A wide-eyed and bushy-tailed raccoon
waits at the base of a tree.
Oh, please come here he pleads with his eyes,
and throw me some dinner for free.

But, alas, the boat doesn’t pass and goes
	way to the other side.
The raccoon is left standing with his nose in the air,
He’ll have to wait for their home-bound ride.

So to the top of the tree he goes to sleep
amid the branches that are his home.
Out over the water he keeps an eye
waiting for a boat on his side to roam.

Soon he hears a noise that is so
	familiar to his ears.
It’s the hum of a boat filled with the
	tourist’s cheers.

And dinner is arriving, piece by piece
	by all who see,
For the raccoon is a star now amidst
the tourists and not just hid in a tree.

Sorry to say the raccoons got eaten by gators a number of years later. Not a good idea to feed wildlife.
