Whatever happened to good old sportsmanship? At a hockey game a puck should cross the floor. You don’t want to see fighting and a brawl or more, While the fans sit in the stands and begin to clap. Now what kind of sportsmanship is that? In baseball a ball is missed by a bat. The pitcher, umpire and coach get into a spat. A player doesn’t accept what he has done. That kind of sportsmanship is certainly no fun. Punching, kicking, biting and spitting that way But what happens to the players? you say. For trying to break another player’s neck. A “slap on the hands” and they say what the heck. Why doesn’t anyone now take responsibility For the horrible actions of players that we see? I think it’s because when money enters in All anyone cares about is that they win. The only way to put an end to this shame Is to not go to a game and bring them this fame We should not join in clapping to participate. Or we are just as bad for the way we relate. © Copyright 1998 by Jean E. Gorney
