When all you have to look back at is an empty crib that once held the infant during both the peaceful and restless nights.

A body you must face in the mirror everyday,
A stretched out belly that once held a life inside.
Kick after kick...
There just seemed to be so much promise there at one point...
But even tomorrow is not promised.

Arms that held a promise without words, it was just a given..
"I'll keep you safe,
Always."
Has now somehow become a dead silence,

"Im sorry I could not save you..."

Eyes that haven't rested in weeks,
The tears may be dried time and time again but the dark circles and the bags reveal a pain that I'm not so sure that time will ever heal.

How could something so precious just be taken away like that,
Without a sound?

I just woke up one morning and you were gone,
Did you even get to see the light of day?

I suppose that's one thing I will be asking myself for a while.

All I know is that I woke up one morning and you were carried away.
