A family is a lot more than kin.
It's also a big circle you love to be in.
They all will comfort and stand up for one another,
Whether it be mother, father, sister or brother.

Big hugs and kisses are what you'll get
The very first moment you are met.
With smiles and best wishes you are surrounded.
Oh thank you to God this family was founded.

When bad times are getting you down,
And you are sitting there with a big frown,
A member of the family is surely to say,
“Come let me help you put that frown away.”

And when you are so happy with great news,
A member of the family you will choose
To laugh and hug and share all that's new
For being alone just would not do.

Picnics and birthday parties and Christmas time too,
Everyone is so excited to get together with you.
Barbecuing, blowing out candles or unwrapping a present,
The day will surely turn out to be pleasant.

A family gets bigger it seems every time that you meet
With aunts, uncles, cousins and new babies so sweet.
Never in your life will so much love abound
As you listen to the noise of a family around.

As you get older, a family grows even more dear
While it grows and grows year after year.
So give all the love you have in you to give
To your family who makes life more exciting to live.
