Snow is coming down as by the window I sit. It's cold outside but by the fireplace I feel fit. I wonder when the first bird will come 'round? While I watch the soft white snow come silently down. There comes one, then another trying so hard to feed. As the crow gathers around, down goes the seed. There are blue jays, sparrows and hummingbirds too So many different kinds of birds come into view. There's finches, too way over on the suet All flapping their wings so fast, how do they do it? Red Cardinals are my favorite of all time. I could sit here all day and watch the birds dine. Soon it is dark and off to bed they go. They'll be back tomorrow, surely, if there is snow. © Copyright 1997 by Jean E, Gorney
