“Here’s a present for you Mom” as my son hands to me
A little white box all wrapped up by them prettily.
A unexpected present for me, oh what a surprise!
And upon opening it, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
It's a picture album with the words on the front
“Grandmother’s Show and Tell Book” the thing I most want.
For eight long years, I patiently waited and waited
Not begging or pushing, “Not us they stated.”
Well, time did pass, soon at the hospital I wait.
Hoping to know that everything turned out great.
A doctor I think is coming into our view.
No it’s our son in a blue uniform too.
A nurse with a bundle is standing by his side.
It’s a boy! He yells out with such joy and pride.
I can hardly believe what I see through my tears.
My very first grandson for whom I’ve waited for years.
Mother, we are told and Dad are doing just fine,
And Grandma and Grandpa are in heaven sublime.
