#3 THE AMUSEMENT PARK Read Count : 152

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
School’s out and it’s a warm day and we are all so excited.
Grandmom has promised again this year to make us delighted.
She has saved and collected coupons all year she says,
We can each bring a friend to accompany us through the maize.
Once inside the amusement park, we know we are safe,
And with hands full of tickets we wait at the gate.
Helter and skelter we run here and there,
Waving down to friends below as they smile up here.
We’ve worked up a thirst and a picnic we’ve brought,
But we are so excited we don’t stay as long as we ought.
Back to the fun, the whirring, excitement and noise.
Oh, I see someone from school over there with those boys.
There is Grandmom; she is in the penny arcade.
She likes to collect movie star picture cards and get weighed.
She comes up with a fortune, which she knows she can beat
As soon as she sits down to get off her feet.
“Come on now,” She says, “It’s getting nigh on to dinner.”
As we all gather and agree, this year was another winner.
