#55 STATUTE OF LIBERTY Read Count : 115

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
It stands in a harbor on an island alone,
The Statue of Liberty, its glowing light shown.
As you sail along in a boat and it comes into view,
The magic and excitement all wells up inside of you.

If you are entering the USA for the very first time,
You are reminded that freedom is yours and mine.
For all have equal rights here they all say,
You're going to find it out the very first day.

All is not perfect in this great wide land,
But glad you are to see her out-stretched hand.
For freedom of religion you know you have here,
And many other freedoms for which you so care.

You have the right to stand up for your cause.
You can protest or work to change the laws.
For if all is not the way it should be,
This country still belongs to both you and me.
