There was a time when Dark Magic was used. The Shadow King,  King Nolan,  long ago was defeated by Asher (Water Mage),  Micah (Earth Mage), Iker (Air Mage),  Daleyza (Fire Mage), and the true goddess of them all,  Arya(Light Mage). Asher, Micah, Iker, Daleyza, Arya..... together they created The Devene. All their powers together was so strong that they made a realm,  Herfter,  to keep Nolan from destroying the light in the world. 

    After Nolan was banished to Herfter,  The Devene disbanded. No one knows why. The local townsmen put up shrines for those in the Devene, in a town called,  Saphrasena. A town of love and care. 

   Today we know the Devene Knights had a family of their own,  passing their powers down to them. Leaving their lives behind to watch from above.
