I stepped on you 
Like shards of glass you wounded me 
You gave me a disease that I couldn't control
Made a carving in my skin 
And insisted to be there 
Like a festering wound 
You made me love you 
Like an eagle stalks it's prey 
You made me love you 
Then you took that all away 
When I was starting to get my feat again 
You took that all away 
You said you would be there for me for the rest of my life 
And I didn't believe you 
But you started to make me believe you 
And by the time you left
I had complete faith in you 
So dear reader 
Thank you 
For everything you've ever done for me 
For making me open to new possibilities 
For being there for me when I needed you even when I didn't want you there 
You are my broken glass 
Covered in jagged edges 
And supper glued to my foot 
You will always be with me 
Even though you aren't with me 
You were my best friend 
And I loved you more than anyone else 
And that is why 
You shall always be with me 
In my heart 
You always have a place to call home 
So dear reader
Thank you
