Pink bows and ribbons surround her little face. A dress filled with ruffles and oodles of lace. Her chubby little fingers hold onto my thumb. What should I say as I sit here struck dumb? She lights up my life with her big, wide smile. If only this could last forever and not just awhile. Her arms reach up for mine to surround, As I slowly pick her up and sit down. In the rocking chair, bouncing on my knee, I thank the Lord for this blessing he gave to me. As her laughter peels, I soak up the sound. My daughter and I with happiness abound. © Copyright 1998 by Jean E. Gorney
