I'm flawed, and overflowing with stories of bad choices and wasted potential. My thoughts and actions are guided by the lies I want you to believe so you will like me. But you are not stupid. I'm as transparent as the air that lingers between us, heavy and swollen with pathetic desperation. I try too hard, my eagerness to please or impress you only makes me annoying. You can't even muster the energy to feel sorry for me because you can see I put myself in this place of neediness and I am no victim of circumstance. Nobody wronged me but me. So you take one more glance and turn away from your reflection in programmed denial and walk away. The reflection of you slowly gets smaller, easier to mistrust. But the smallest echo of a glass cracking catches up to you.
