77 THE OUTHOUSE Read Count : 102

When I was a child and going to elementary school
We had to use an outhouse which we didn't think was kool
Unless you count the times when trudging in the snow
We certainly didn't want to but had no choice but to go
We wore dresses, leggings and galoshes on our feet
To get all unwound of this was quite a feat
Splinters you'd get if you weren't very careful
But spiders and creatures are what made us fearful
Sometimes it would be fun on a warm summer's day
When inside we'd run from the boys as we play
It's been a long time, the memories I really don't mind
But today I'm grateful for the inside plumbing so kind
