264 A TOILING ANT Read Count : 137

Category : Poems

Sub Category : N/A
Did you ever watch an ant toiling away so hard,
Trying to get from one place to another in your yard?

He often follows a long line as the leader knows the way,
And not for very long is he in one place to stay.

As he scurries along over hot concrete and tar,
He never really seems to get all that far.

His load is so large that you are simply amazed.
And if you step near him, he surely will run craised.

His hill grows bigger and bigger with dirt piling about
As for the other ants, their job is flinging it out.

The food he will bring to strengthen the force
Will be welcomed indeed; that is, of course,

If he wasn’t snatched up while heading back to the Queen
And forever and nevermore remain to be seen.
