There is a noise on the roof
And I hear the screech of an owl
I try to make my thoughts aloof
Which more noises don’t allow

The beep of a horn, aah I’m not alone
He must have seen the owl I say
A car slows pasting the front of my home
The owl must have been in his way

A dog barking in the distance
Is more annoying than scary
I think I'll meet this with resistance
This story before it gets hairy

I’ll wait until I’m not all alone at night
To give this book another good try
Scary things can be fun to read in light
In dark of night your imagination may run awry
