          Aiden and I stand in front of the steps leading up to the mighty throne,3 guards cloaked in black behind us.Erebus,the king of darkness,materializes in front if his throne,A black hound at his side.The dog raises his snout into the air and sniffs.He slowly starts to walk towards me and Aiden shifts uncomfortably.I kneel on the dark floor and let him sniff the back of my hand.He whines and jumps up,licking my face.After he calms down I scratch his head and murmur,"Waren,it's been a long time,"I smile and straighten.Waren sticks close to me as I start to walk up the stairs."Adri,"Aiden says reaching for my hand but I shake my head.My worn clothes fade away,replaced with a red dress with a sweetheart neckline and I full skirt,the color of blood.And then a crown of black thrones,matching King Erebus' appears on my head."Well,it looks like you've done your job my dear,"His majesty says as I stop in front of him.He strokes a finger down my cheek before pressing his lips to mine.When he pulls back a few servants push up a second,slightly smaller throne.My fingers graze the intricately detailed arm of my throne before I sit down with a sigh.I cross my legs,Waren laying at my feet.I watch Erebus sit down and then I finally look at Aiden.His jaw clenches and he won't look me in the eye.I pick at my nails and wonder aloud,"You know for someone so smart,it surprises me that you never realized my name means darkness,"
"Why did you do it?"Aiden asks quietly."You light people act like your perfect.That you do nothing wrong.I loved in a city surrounded by a mountain range.My father was the Lord of the land.I had 5 other siblings.Then your father came and enslaved us.Forcing us to mine in the mountains we once thought protected us.I was the last one left out of my family.I was miserable.I couldn't help my people no matter how hard I tried.Thats when Erebus came.He burned the barracks to the ground.His armies killed every single one if the Light kings men.In order to keep my people safe I agreed to come here and become queen.He saved me.So that's why I did it.And I hope you know that anything I did or said was all a lie,"Erebus smiles at me and asks,"Is that all my dear?"I only glance at him before he lifts a hand.The guards that stood behind us grab him and drag him away.
          I slip out of Erebus' chambers and close the door with a soft a click.I spot a piece of sharp stone in the wall and take a deep breath before dragging my hand down the edge.I hiss through my teeth as I watch the blood trickle down my arm.I draw a few marks on the wall and the whole castle seems to quiet.I wipe my hand on my dress as I hurry down the halls.I mumble a unlocking spell and the cell door clicks open.Aidens hands a in shackles above his head and they're attached to a hook on the wall.His toes barely touch the floor.His face and chest is covered in bruises and dried blood and his left eye is swollen shut.He flinches when I reach for him and that's when I can't take anymore.A sob escapes my mouth as tears begin to slide down my cheeks,"I'm so sorry,"I choke."I didn't mean anything I said.I love you.I love you so much.Please,please forgive me."After a moment he asks,"Why are you here?"I sniff and say,"I need to get you out of here."He's quiet as I put a stool beneath his feet and unhook him.He slumps over and before he can fall I drape his arm over my shoulders and help him out of the cell.We walk as fast as we can until  we reach a door at the end of the hall.I kick it open and then help Aiden outside."You have to go,the spell is gonna where off soon."
"Come with me,"Aiden says.I shake my head."I have to stay here."He crushes his lips against mine in hasty,but forceful kiss."I love you,"He says."I love you too,"I whisper.I nudge him away and smile as he runs for the gate."I love you."I mouth one last time.I close the door and stare at it for a minute.My eyes widen as a blade is pressed against my throat."I love you."
