Its amazing how fast your life changes. One minute your lopeing around playing with your family and friends and the next your whole life goes to shit with one shot. Stupid humans come into the woods with their nasty guns and starts shooting innocent animals. My name's Lola. I'm a wolf. There's a rumor going around that say humans think we're vicious creaturs but my human doesn't seem to mind. Yes, I have a human. She's still young so I haven't introduced my mate and pups to her yet but she's fun to play ball with. This morning started off like any other. I woke up and left the den before the sun hit the ground and I was at Sidney's window before it hit the tree tops. She liked to give me leftovers sometimes and I always took bones to the pups if there was any. This morning she combed my fur, I didn't mind, she said it would make me pretty. When I left I grabbed a few rabbits for the kids. The sun was high in the sky and snow had just started falling again about thirty minutes prior. My mate had went out for lunch to show our oldest male how to hunt deer for his own pack. We can only have one Alpha male in the pack and my eldest had already started showing the characteristics of a true Alpha. I was a proud mother. I had the Females down at the pond waiting for the Males to return when I heard what I could only guess as a gunshot and watched in bewildernent as Dixie, my mates sister, fell dead into the pond. Our wild instinct is fight or flight. Since there were objects flying and my pack falling around me I chose that the second choice was best. I ran as fast as I could as far as I could. I hoped against all hope that my pups had gotten away. I ran halfway to Sidney's school before I stopped and made a den in some bushes. I was alone now. Until I could verify if there was any survivors left of my pack and family I have become what humans called a lone wolf. Chapter 1: Living the lonely life was starting to get depressing. It had been a week since the shooting at the pond. I have yet to find my pups. Every time I hear a wolf's cry I always run to find them but all I find are strangers. Sometimes lone wolves build their own packs, and I've had many offers, but I just can't. I'm on a mission to find my pups and figure out if any of my pack survived. The moon was high and the snow had just stopped falling for the first time this week when I heard a twig snap near my den.
