Writing prompt: character
"A lovely, 21 year old woman who comes from a poor background, lives in a social housing scheme, and tends to be a hoarder."

Holly woke up to the sound of a drill outside her window. For the umpteenth time she wished she could live elsewhere. Somewhere that didn't have construction going on every day. However, welfare had provided the house for her and she took what she could get when it was available.
That way of thinking might explain the way her house looked. She collected everything and anything because who knew when the price would rise to a ridiculous amount.
Holly climbed out of bed and shuffled to her washroom, stubbing her toes on the various items she'd gotten the other day from the thrift store. The doorbell rang right as she was washing her hands and she hurried to open it, blocking the view of her house by only opening the door a crack and standing in the way of the view inside. Her sister was standing in the doorway with a small package in her hands. Holly grinned and opened the door further for her sister to step inside.
Jana tackled her younger sister with a rib crushing hug and then pat her on the head which earned her a scowl.
"Happy belated 21st birthday! Welcome to the world of alcohol and adulting!" Jana shoved the present into her sister's hands and proceeded to walk around the place, trying to see if anything had changed.
Holly remained in the entrance and quickly tore the paper away from the box. She paused at the obscene amount of tape on the box and shot a glare at her sister who, in response, stuck out her tongue and plopped down on the couch. Holly ran into the kitchen to look for something sharp and came back out with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. She sat down on top of her sister which produced a huff of air and a grunt of protest. Jana shoved a giggling Holly off and watched as she struggled to open the box.
After a few moments of trying to stab the box with the scissors, with no positive results other than an older sister doubled up with laughter, Holly finally got the scissors wedged under a loose piece of tape. She grinned in triumph and began cutting the tape away. The box finally popped open and Holly gave the scissors to her sister to hold so she wouldn't lose them. They were her only pair of scissors at the moment.
Setting the box aside for a future project, she took out the fancy black bottle opener. She took the tiny item out from the box and turned to face her sister who had a smug grin across her lips.
"All that tape for this? Thanks for this though." Holly reached across the couch to give her sister a hug and then went to the kitchen to put the scissors and bottle opener away.
"Now I better not see a pile of collected bottled caps next time I'm here. We both know you love hoarding those misfit items." Jana called out from the living room.
"I don't hoard! I just save things for a future use. You'll see. One of these days, you're going to be buying my projects made out of misfit items." Holly had returned from the kitchen and at the words 'misfit items' she held up her hands in air quotes. Jana just shook her head and got up off the couch.
"Alright well keep working on that. I need to get back to Nathan. I swear that child gets into everything no matter how close Kyle watches him." Jana gave Holly a big grin as she made her way to the door and let herself out. Holly waved her sister goodbye then set about organizing all the random items in her home.
