I do not think the pain ever goes away, but rather, it simply comes back in waves like how I try to come back to you. As you walk on, I know it is true. If I asked you stand, would you stop to think about one last thought?

That is, when we were lost among ourselves.

Dancing slowly around the wishing well. How about the time you asked for a kiss? How about the time I leaned in and missed? Did you ever wonder what happened to us? Were fools like us meant to fall for lust? Here I stand now with one last wish, that is, for you and I to touch lips. We can walk away and dream to fly instead of wasting here in all of my lies. I cannot force you to stay, but please do not leave. It is far less comfortable here on my knees. Why is it that you cannot see that you can throw away the broken part me?

Your smile has always hid so much pain, but despite my words, you are an umbrella in the rain. You sit next to me in shambled pieces as I find your hand softly reaching for the nights we spent staring at the stars. That is where you looked at me and found who you are. It is not easy for you anymore and it was not you I was laying with when you walked through our door. She did not love like you, did not kiss. The entire time, it was you I missed. She made me cold that summer day when I ended it watching you walk away. If only sorry could fix the broken trust. If only I knew loneliness would not hurt so much. Maybe I could hold you one last time? Maybe we could leave it all behind?
