On a lazy day in a lazy town two twin brothers lay in their back yard. Their names were James and John. They were 11 years old and both had chocolate brown hair and dark brown eyes. They often craved adventure in their boring little town, and so they often got into trouble. The two sat up when they heard a noise, becoming curious. John was the first one to spot a black cat running across the yard, and was excited. He looks to James and said "Lets follow it." The twins got up and trailed after the cat, stopping however when they saw it jump onto the fence and over into the woods that surrounded the back of the house. Their parents, Joe and Cathy, had always told them never ever go in, but never mentioned why. This was an adventure though and reluctantly the two decided to disobey their parents just this once, and sneakily slipped over the fence so nobody saw them. Once they were over the fence the boys saw the cat walking deeper into the woods. Something about the tall ominous trees, the unused path, and the feeling that something was off chilled the two to the bone. They carried on after the cat anyways, not realizing at the time, that the woods were dead silent except for the they sounds of their breathing. They finally caught up to the cat, and saw it laying on the ground, but something was wrong. One of it's legs had vanished, but there was no blood and gore, it simply seemed to have faded into thin air. So they watched the cat in fascination. The cat started to yowl as its body began to fade away, until the last thing the boys saw of it was its shining eyes. Finally they were overwhelmed with fear and panicked, running for home. The faster they ran the faster they too began to fade. It started in their fingers and traveled up their arms, slowing making the twins translucent. The two struggled over the fence into their yard and the moment their feet touched the ground their bodies solidified again. They looked at each other and vowed to never go back again. Suddenly they found themselves in the warm embrace of their panicked parents who had been looking everywhere for them. "You aren't mad at us?" Asked James. "No." Replied their parents. "We are just happy your alive." The End I would like to give credit and a big thanks to my editer and very good friend "Sebastian Samuel" she worked hard on this story.
